Protecting our Communities–Stop Drugs and Violence

L.E.A.D. is proud to announce a nationwide poster contest available to all schools for students Grade K-8 (you do not need to be a L.E.A.D. community to participate). The theme is “Protecting Our Communities-Stop Drugs and Violence”.  We want to see your best work as you show us what you have been doing to protect your community from drugs and violence.  We have three separate grade categories, all sorts of prizes, and will be selecting winners every two weeks through May 15.

Contest Rules

Qualifications

All school-aged children grades K-8 (LEAD and Non-LEAD communities)

Categories:

  • Grades K-3
  • Grades 4-6
  • Grades 7-8

We will pick a 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize for each category on the following dates:

April 10

April 24

May 8

On May 15 we will select a grand prize winner for each category. The prizes for each category are as follows:

Grades K-3

First prize $50 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Second prize $25 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Third prize $10 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Grades 4-6

First prize $50 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Second prize $25 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Third prize $10 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Grades 7-8

First prize $50 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Second prize $25 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Third prize $10 worth of L.E.A.D. Merchandise

Grand prize winners will receive a $100 gift card, a $50 gift card, and a $25 gift card (First, Second, and Third prize, respectively).

RULES

  1. All entries become the property of L.E.A.D. and may be used in whole or in part by L.E.A.D. at its discretion.
  2. By entering the contest, all entrants agree to permit the use of their name and other personal information for publicity and further agree that L.E.A.D. has a universal, binding, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, distribute, display, and exhibit the artwork without payment or further consent.
  3. All participants additionally grant L.E.A.D. all rights, title and interest, including, without limitation, all copyrights and exploitation rights in any media of the poster without payment or further consent.
  4. The artwork may not depict any trademarks or copyrighted materials, logos, or brand names (other than L.E.A.D.).
  5. By submitting, the entrant represents that:
  1. The artwork and everything depicted in it are wholly original to this contest and do not infringe upon or otherwise violate any right of any person, firm, or entity.
  2. The entrant has all rights, licenses, permissions, and consents necessary to submit the poster in the contest in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  3. No person/entity other than the entrant has any right, title, or arrangement to the artwork.
  1. By entering the contest, L.E.A.D. may post the artwork, or any part thereof, on the L.E.A.D. website, social media accounts (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and for any other purpose.
  2. The entrant agrees that L.E.A.D. has the right to modify, edit and/or adapt the artwork as necessary as well as to reproduce it, whole or in part, without compensation or further notice to the entrant.
  3. The opinions expressed in the artwork submissions are solely the opinions of the entrant and not those of L.E.A.D. L.E.A.D. is not responsible for any artwork provided by entrants that are deemed harmful or offensive to others.
  4. The contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws.
  5. Void where prohibited by law.
  6. L.E.A.D. is not liable for any injuries that the entrant incurs during the development of the artwork, for broken equipment or material and services purchased to produce the submission. The participation assumes all responsibility for damages, injuries, and cost.
  7. Each participant must be a student currently attending school in the United States, Grades K-8 at the time the artwork is submitted to L.E.A.D. for judging.
  8. Contest winners must agree to relinquish their original artwork to L.E.A.D. upon request.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT RULES

You can create your project using any media, including digital, photography, or hand-drawn artwork. Consider the following tips when creating your project:

  • Create a positive, brief, catchy message.
  • Keep the images positive.
  • Include the contest title Protecting our CommunitiesStop Drugs and Violence in your project.
  • Avoid using pictures of alcohol, bottles, or drugs in your artwork.
  • Write your message in English or Spanish.
  • Do not use scary or inappropriate pictures or messages.
  • Do not use cartoon characters that are copyright protected (e.g., superheroes).
  • Do not use brand name products in the project (e.g., Pepsi, Oreos).
  • Please include the L.E.A.D. logo in the poster.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Participants must email digital photos or image of their entry of their artwork to postercontest@leadrugs.org.

All submissions will be sent in on or before the due date.

Contestants may submit a new poster for each period. The following information must be included in the body of the e-mail accompanying the submission:

  • Name(s) of the Artist
  • School name & full address
  • Grade
  • L.E.A.D. officer’s name

JUDGING

Entries will be judged based on originality, creativity, and how well they visually describe L.E.A.D. submitted under the title Protecting our CommunitiesStop Drugs and Violence.

These are the categories:

Grade 4-6

Grades 7-8

All acceptable artwork will be displayed on the L.E.A.D. website and social media accounts. Winning entries will be notified by phone and made public through the L.E.A.D. website and social media accounts.
